10-75 IN LARGE NEW LAW TENEMENT

Squad 252 responded to a close squad box for a fire in a large, 6 story multiple dwelling.  Box 1777, 220 Highland Blvd, Miller Ave to Bulwer Place, was transmitted for a fire on the top floor.  Command was extremely concerned with possible fire extension to the cockloft of the building.  He immediately sent members of 252 to the adjoining apartments to conduct searches and check for extension.  Companies quickly got water on the fire and aggressively knocked it down.  Slight extension was found in the cockloft, but was quickly addressed.

As 252 was operatiing at this fire, numerous companies as well as Squad 1 were operating at a 3rd Alarm in Bensonhurst.  This fire gained national attention as 5 souls perished in what appeared to be an intentionally set fire.
