As members of 252 were starting committee work (house work) at the firehouse, a distressed voice was heard over the fire radio.  "EMS Conditions to Brooklyn, send fire units to Herkimer Street and Louis Place!  I have a fully involved building!"  Squad 252, along with several other units who were listening up and knew that was their box, started out.  As the company turned onto Cooper Ave, heavy smoke could be seen in the distance.  A 10-75 was transmitted for fire blowing out of the top floor of a 3 story frame.  The fire was quickly spreading to two adjoining buildings on Exposure 4.  Squad 252 was sent into the exposure building to assist companies with opening up.  Companies did a great job keeping most of the fire to the original fire building.  There was only some extension to Exposure 4 and even less in Exposure 4A.  At the height of the fire a 2nd Alarm was transmitted.
