CELLAR FIRE IN A BROWNSTONE TYPE

Squad 252 responded on the 10-75 for Box 0878, 59 Ralph Ave, Monroe Street to Madison Street for a fire in a three story multiple dwelling.  Upon arrival heavy smoke was still venting from the building's lower floors as first due companies were in the process of locating the fire.  Although originally thought to be on the first floor of the three story brownstone type frame, fire was located in the cellar area.  Companies gained access via the exterior due to furniture and debris blocking the interior stairs.  Although difficult to access, the fire was quickly knocked down.  Members of 252 were ordered into the 1st floor (basement) to conduct searches and check for extension.  Searches proved negative.
