An early morning Class 3 (automatic alarm) was found to be an actual fire at Box 0897, 342 Eldert Street, Irving Ave to Knickerbocker Ave. The initial alarm brought a 1 and 1 (Squad 252 and Ladder 112) response with a chief (28 Battalion). As 252 arrived, heavy smoke could be seen coming from a first floor window which appeared to be broken out by one of the residents. A 10-75 was transmitted for fire on the first floor of a four story, fireproof multiple dwelling with sprinklers throughout. The sprinkler system confined the fire to the kitchen area.
