Another busy 24 for the members of Squad 252.  During the day tour Box 2132, 719 Hinsdale Street, Dewitt Ave to Linden Blvd, was transmitted for a fire on the 2nd floor of a two story frame.  With similar attached buildings on either side of the fire building, the chief was concerned with horizontal fire spread.  Squad 252 was ordered into each exposure.  Upon inspection, fire was found on the top floor of Exposure 4.  A line was stretched to this location and quickly knocked down the fire.  First due companies made quick work of the fire in the rear of the top floor of the original fire building.  The building was determined to be vacant and all searches proved negative.

The night tour brought an intense fire in Bushwick.  Numerous calls were received for Box 0271, 64 Knickerbocker Ave, Grattan Street to Harrison Place.  Squad 252 was assigned to fill out the box.  During their response a 10-75 was transmitted for fire on the 1st floor of a three story, isolated frame.  The dispatcher advised responding companies of reports of people trapped throughout the building.  Companies had their hands full, as the fire involved the foyer and entire staircase of the building.  The fire was well advanced upon arrival and trapped numerous occupants in the rear of the building. Companies aggressively attacked the building, rescuing people in the rear and advancing hoselines in the front.  Through use of a portable ladder, Squad 252's can-man entered the 2nd floor on the Exposure 4 side of the building.  Numerous members were simultaneously making entry on the 2nd floor on Exposure 2.  As he entered the 2nd floor, 252 Can found a women just inside the window.  A 10-45 was transmitted and she was handed to another member on the portable ladder.  Unfortunately she succumbed to her injuries.  At the height of the fire a 2nd Alarm was transmitted and two tower ladders were put to work to knock down the fire.  The fire is currently under investigation and is suspected to be a result of arson.
